Our Story: The Journey of Frozen Kups
It all started at our kitchen table, where we were in the middle of a familiar family battle—getting our son to eat his green beans. In the midst of the dinnertime fuss, my wife casually suggested, What if we opened an ice cream shop? That simple idea sparked something in us. Right then and there, we grabbed a pencil and paper and started listing everything we need to bring that dream to life.
We visited local ice cream shops, took notes, and added up the costs. When we got our total, we added an extra 20% just to be safe. From that moment, every payday, we invested in our dream by purchasing equipment, securing licenses and permits, opening a business account, taking step after step toward making Frozen Kups a reality.
We knew we needed more than just a vision, so we got a business plan written and started knocking on the doors of banks and credit unions for funding. Each rejection only fueled our determination. Finally, we found a bank willing to take a chance on us. They didn’t give us everything we asked for, but it was enough to get us to opening day. On June 22, 2018, Frozen Kups officially opened its doors.
Business was thriving, and we quickly became part of the community, building relationships one cup at a time. Then COVID-19 hit. Like the rest of the world, we faced uncertainty, setbacks, and loss. The government ordered businesses like ours to close for what was supposed to be two weeks, but those two weeks turned into two months. We lost all of our product. The future looked uncertain.
But we held onto faith. We trusted God. Instead of shutting down in fear, we decided to give back by offering free ice cream to the community as a way of sowing seeds and believing that we would reopen. And we did. The day before Mother’s Day, we were back in business.
That season of struggle taught us resilience. We didn’t just bounce back, we grew. We expanded, launching our Frozen Kups food truck, bringing our treats to new places. Then we took an even bigger leap, we became a franchisor, allowing others to bring Frozen Kups to their own communities.
Today, Frozen Kups isn’t just a local ice cream shop, it’s a national brand. We’ve built strong relationships, expanded into hotels, and even launched our products on Amazon, bringing the Frozen Kups experience to even more customers.
What started as a simple conversation at our kitchen table has turned into something bigger than we ever imagined. And this is just the beginning.
Welcome to Frozen Kups. Welcome to our story.
